Seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced naval engineers for contract opportunities on naval acquisition program assurance

With travel and social restrictions easing, now is the time to take advantage of new opportunities.

Gibbs & Cox is an international leader in naval ship design, providing naval architecture, systems engineering and program management services to a range of international clients.  Gibbs & Cox Australia operates a select team of expert personnel providing advisory services, focussed on bringing the world’s best expertise to Australia’s naval programs.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from engineers with strong experience in the maritime or naval sector to support acquisition project assurance activities. Current opportunities are for a shorter term, likely around 6-8 months, with the potential for longer terms for highly effective candidates.

The work involves participation in design reviews, review of contractor information products, assessment of technical and programmatic risks, and other technical and programmatic assurance activities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced, committed team, providing expertise in the delivery of nationally significant projects.

Roles will be primarily based in Canberra. Depending on specific circumstances there may be some flexibility in working arrangements, however candidates should be prepared to spend a majority of contract periods in Canberra. Renumeration is attractive for the right candidates and will be agreed based on expertise and capability.

Candidates must hold the right to work in Australia and hold an NV1 or secret-equivalent security clearance from a 5-EYES nation.

Gibbs & Cox is seeking interested candidates with the following attributes:

  • A positive, customer-focussed attitude, with high professional standards.
  • Degree-qualified engineer with strong knowledge, experience and expertise in maritime design, production or acquisition. Naval experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and decision authorities, and clearly articulate complex positions and issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with and coordinate work across a complex stakeholder group with divergent interests.
